If there’s one experience I’m never going to forget, it’s the time my lecturer publicly embarrassed me in front of my entire class as a fresher. The lecturer had me stand in front of everyone explaining myself after I stepped out to pee because he thought I wasn’t in his class, and when I tried to explain what really happened, it only made things worse. He kept asking me questions, and at some point, when I realized he wasn't convinced, I decided to show him a photo of my desk from earlier in the lecture to prove I was there. Instead of accepting it, he said I was lying and that the picture could’ve been taken at any time or even sent to me by someone else. In the end, I left the class frustrated because no matter what I said, the photo just wasn't enough proof in his eyes, and the crazy thing is this isn’t even the first time something like this has happened to me. I’ve been in other situations where a simple picture I used as proof ended up being questioned because people thought it wasn’t real or couldn’t be verified. Honestly, I don’t blame them because these days anyone can edit a photo, reuse an old image, or claim a picture was taken at a different time. I could go on and on. Writing has paid me, connected me with amazing people, and opened doors but one of the things I value most is how much it teaches me. Every article, thread, long form and short form post is an opportunity to learn something new.
