I've been digging into the other side of the equation: Who actually pays for all this robot data? That's where the Axis business model gets interesting. Axis describes it as B2B2C. The community sits on the front end producing physical-action data at scale. On the back end, Axis turns that network into data + model infrastructure for robotics companies. And the commercial product isn't simply "here are a million trajectories." Axis packages data around what a customer actually needs: → Scenario: where the robot needs to operate → Skills: grasp, place, push, rotate, etc. → Randomization: different layouts, objects and physical conditions → Trajectories: the actual volume of usable training data Put those together and you get what Axis calls a Task Package. So a hardware company with a robot that needs better manipulation data doesn't have to build an entire collection pipeline from scratch. Axis can generate the tasks, distribute them across contributors, collect the trajectories, verify/process the data and deliver something designed around that specific use case.
