RWAs recently reached another all-time high. For defi, this is being framed as a new direction. A maturation of the space. The market is moving away from speculation and toward something more durable. For Islamic finance, that logic has always been familiar. Capital was never meant to float away from the real economy. Returns were meant to come from productive activity, supported by tangible assets, with risk shared by the parties participating in the outcome. It must generate yield inside a certified, asset-backed structure where profit stays connected to real economic activity, without interest-based mechanics or speculative exposure.
